FAQ

  • Do I have to change my lifestyle?
Yes! This training will get your dog off to a great start. However it is just that... the start. Training your dog is a lifelong journey. It is up to you to continue this training with your dog each day. Maintaining a happy, calm, confident dog is a lot of work. But it also leads to lots of happy and fun days. Having a good dog is about having a good relationship with your dog. It takes two to tango! If you would like extra help in maintaining the behaviors, I offer daily training and follow ups!
  • Will this training change my dog?
Yes, but not in the way you may think. It will make your dog more enjoyable to be around. But it will not turn your awesome little buddy into a flattened out robot! We want dogs to be living their best lives. I want to give your dog confidence and empower it to navigate this human world it is living in. In turn, I want to give you a way to communicate with your dog about what they can and cannot be doing.
  • What training tools do you use?
Not every dog will need every tool but we like to have a large tool box so that we can customize each dog’s training. Each dog is different! The tools we may use include: Food Play Slip lead High Quality Ecollar Prong Collar Toys Long leash 6-ft leash Crate Treadmill Flat buckle collar Place cots Muzzle Body language Praise Affection Play
  • What are the training methods?
I am a lifestyle trainer. Rather than focus on solely obedience - I want to work on reaching your goals on how you can live with your dog more fluidly and have more adventures with them! For our dogs to make changes in their behavior - we will need to make changes in the way we are interacting with them throughout the day! My goal is to give you ways to communicate with your dog more effectively so you can stop yelling and holding a treat above your head.
  • Where do you take the dogs you work with?
We start all dog training inside the house. The dogs have to get the fundamentals down in a calm area before heading out. We can't teach kids to read at Disney World! We have to start at home in our own living room. Once dogs have their basics down, we take them out for adventures! Socialization and confidence building is best done in public. Adventures allow dogs to get desensitized to all sorts of things like cars, people, dogs etc. We head to hardware stores, pet stores, coffee shops and local parks galore.
  • Is the training guaranteed?
This question can be a difficult one. Dogs are living beings that are affected by their environment and lifestyle. Your dog will go home a more well-rounded dog and more enjoyable to be around. However, I cannot guarantee that the dog will be perfect forever! Dogs are affected a lot by the environment they live in (Thats you). Training is life-long. If you aren't able to keep up with it at home, then behavior can fall back into hold habits. I offer lifetime help with the dog in all our camps and would be happy to schedule a follow up lesson for anything that comes up along the way either virtually on in-person.
